I’m generally pro-life, and so this makes me very sad.
Planned Parenthood is a huge provider of health care to women, having nothing to do with elective abortion. PP and Komen are natural allies in that.
I’m afraid that Komen was afraid of losing support from people like me if they were too closely-tied to PP. And they might be right. The Southern Baptists stopped supporting Komen because of the connection to PP. Which shows that the Southern Baptist Conference would rather take political shots than help women.
People who are REALLY pro-life should support anyone who’s helping to save women’s lives, whether we like everything that they do or not. Most pro-lifers seem to think that life begins at conception but ends at birth, because after birth they don’t give a damn what happens to people. (And, yes, I’m talking about my fellow church-goers.)
