No candidate carries the banner of Tea Party anti-government sentiment more proudly than Florida’s Rick Scott: a man who thought it his patriotic duty to reduce the size of government by DEFRAUDING it of nearly $2 billion in Medicare overcharges while he was CEO of Columbia/HCA. Alas, no Robin Hood steal-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor story line here, though: Scott merely lined his own pockets with his decades-long vacuuming-up of taxpayer funds, thus enabling him to buy the Republican primary election for Governor.
This, then, is the true ethical underpinning of the Tea Party movement. If the good citizens of Florida are stupid enough to let a man like Scott become Governor of their state, then we can all watch as he reprises his Columbia/HCA performance in ravaging and dismantling the institutions of government in Florida that serve the people. And lining his pockets yet again. I can’t wait to see that happen.
