In the dozen or so presidential campaigns I have observed in my life, I have not seen anything like the blatant disregard for facts and truth that the McCain campaign exhibits. The late, great Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan liked to say that everyone is entitled to his own opinions, but not his own facts. McCain and Palin would do well to follow Sen. Moynihan’s example on ethical behavior in politics, and in life. It is, perhaps, encouraging to see that the media on both the right and the left, and even fellow Republicans, are calling out the McCain campaign for its chronic lies. Imagine the incredible damage this pair might do if allowed into the White House. After 8 long years of lies and fears, corruption, torture tricks and tears (a line from my song, “Legacy of 43”) we need to sweep the decks clear of pols caste in the Bush mold.
