In a recent address to soldiers serving in Afghanistan, George Bush made the bizarre comment that he envies the soldiers’ “romantic” adventures in a war zone. He thus unwittingly revealed the true motivation for his having launched a trumped-up war in Iraq: his need for a chest-thumping military conquest that would establish his credentials as a take-no-prisoners tough guy. 4000 American soldiers have now lost their lives to gratify this man’s ego. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been wasted. America’s reputation in the world has been virtually destroyed. Our country is less safe, and our economy is teetering on the brink of disaster. A terrible, terrible price to pay for one man’s romantic adventure. Thump your chest over that, Mr. Bush.
