Traditional Republicans are finally registering their discontent – indeed, their disgust – at the right-wing ideologues who duped them into putting a willfully-ignorant , stunningly unqualified frat boy into the White House six years ago. The incompetence of the Bush Administration on virtually every front is beyond dispute, and the true conservative movement has been gravely damaged by the abject failures of a corrupt GOP congressional leadership.
George Bush and Dick Cheney could undoubtedly be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors”, but it would not serve the people’s interests to have the new Congress spend its energy on this, with so many more pressing issues to resolve. In any event, Bush/Cheney have already been impeached in the court of public opinion, on November 7. The best thing the new Congress can do is to park the emasculated Bush cabal in a quiet corner, ignore them for the next two years, and launch a bi-partisan “Manhattan Project” to get our country back on course.
