Iraq’s army once again showed its mettle by ditching its American forces “partners” in the middle of a fierce battle against Shiite militias in Baghdad. Once again, American forces had to send in reinforcements to clean up the mess. This is the army that $650 billion and over 4000 American lives has bought for President Bush. Perhaps, as he “fills up the old coffers” after his departure from the White House, Mr. Bush might consider repaying us for this stunningly bad investment.
